Building on our roots in 1847 as the national academy of music, we are now one of Europe’s most multi-disciplinary centres of performing arts education. Through our innovative curriculum, we offer highly- specialised education in and across the art forms of music, drama, dance, film and production. Our innovative undergraduate and postgraduate curricula combine intense specialist study of the highest quality with opportunities for student choice and artistic collaboration across artistic disciplines, thereby educating our graduates as versatile, employable professionals.
We are seeking: an experienced pianist to work closely with conducting staff to provide a high quality learning experience for students.
You will: be expected to model at the piano the full score – or, in some cases, missing parts only – in such a way as to allow the conductor to practice leading and shaping the work in question as if the full ensemble were present. As well as single piano reductions, you will perform regularly as part of a conductor’s ensemble of 5-8 players, covering missing parts and filling out the texture as required, and also in collaboration with a second pianist in realising two piano reductions.
You will have: Significant professional experience of playing and following a conductor in ensemble and/or orchestral settings and the ability to realise at sight orchestral, choral, or other ensemble scores of moderate difficulty at the piano.
