Aberdeen Performing Arts
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role at Aberdeen Performing Arts, responsible for managing and developing programming across our iconic venues and contribute to our three festivals.
You will work closely with our Leadership Team to create a strong vision and a distinctive and diverse programme that will appeal to our current broad audience base and extend our reach and impact. Our venues and festivals provide a unique opportunity to take artists and audiences on a journey from small-scale, new, intimate, experimental work to large-scale, commercial concerts and productions; from supporting new and young talent to celebrating the work of established artists.
We are looking for an experienced professional programmer who has a broad range of arts programming expertise, in drama, dance, spoken word and comedy, and who can bring a specialist knowledge in music programming with extensive expertise in at least one music genre.
As programme lead for the Music Hall and for our music festival, True North, our music festival, you will live and breathe the arts, regularly attend concerts, productions, festivals and events and have a strong understanding of the national arts and cultural scene. You will contribute and encourage ideas and creativity.
You will have excellent planning, relationship management and communication skills. You will have commercial acumen and also enjoy and have a flair for discovering new and emerging talent. You will have a wide network of contacts and collaborators to bring to the table.
Aberdeen Performing Arts is a creative hub and focal point for the performing arts, community engagement and talent development in the North-east. With three iconic city centre venues we present, produce and commission diverse and distinctive arts and cultural programmes of regional and national reach and impact. We run a wide range of creative activities, projects and workshops for all ages and stages in our own venues as well as in schools and community settings. We provide a box office service for 30+ venues in the North-east. We are an ambitious company and have big plans for the future. We are undertaking a complete transformation of Aberdeen’s much-loved Music Hall, undergoing a multi-millionpound redevelopment, which is due to open at the end of this year. We continue to expand our festivals, and Freshly Squeezed Productions, our producing arm, supports new talent, new writing and new ways of working collaboratively across the arts.
With all this and more, it’s never been a more exciting time to join Aberdeen Performing Arts!
