Capacity in the Nave is around 500 -600. Wheelchair access is best achieved through the North Door, which will be opened by request. Disabled facilities. As well as liturgical music, there is a wide spectrum of music which could generally be described as "Classical". St Mary's Cathedral is a splendid Victorian Gothic building by George Gilbert Scott with three spires. It maintains an internationally renowned Choir which sings on Sundays and in Evensong on weekdays. The Cathedral's fine acoustic is also appreciated by other Choral and Orchestral groups who use it as a venue. Outside groups will be charged for the use of the cathedral. There is also a fine four-manual Father Willis/Harrison organ, regarded as one of best in the UK.
