The Fergus McCreadie Trio is one of Scotland’s most exciting groups. Comprised of McCreadie on Piano, David Bowden on Bass and Stephen Henderson on Drums, they have played the Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fife, Aberdeen and Islay Jazz Festivals repeatedly, and to much acclaim. The music of the trio blurs the lines between Jazz and Scottish Music. Tunes feature the improvisation and harmony of Jazz, but it is the introduction of Folk melodies and rhythms that make this music so alluring. Influences from Keith Jarrett, Pat Metheny and Jan Garbarek can be heard, but folk artists such as the Gloaming and Lau also have a strong pull on the sound. The trio have recently released their debut album, ‘Turas’.
