Academy Chamber Ensemble

The Academy of St Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble heads to North America for an 8-concert tour performing works by Mendelssohn, Brahms and Korngold as well as a brand new work by Sally, written for the ensemble as Composer in Residence.

This piece is inspired by my experience of the Carl Nielsen Violin Competition, where I was a juror in March 2019. I heard many superb performances of the Bach solo sonatas and partitas, and for 10 days, my head was filled with Bach. – Sally Beamish

Mendelssohn Octet for strings in E flag major, Op.20in F major, D. 803
Brahms Sextet for strings in G major, Op.36in E-flat major, Op. 20

Featuring Tomo Keller (violin), Harvey de Souza (violin), Martin Burgess (violin), Jennifer Godson (violin), Robert Smissen (viola), Fiona Bonds (viola), Stephen Orton (cello) and Will Schofield (cello).
