Glasgow Life has an exciting creative role available for a skilled, ambitious freelance producer passionate about British Asian arts scene and festivals!
Glasgow Mela is Scotland’s biggest free multicultural festival, bursting with live music, dance and theatre performances from around the globe. 2018 line-up included Bhangra superstar Miss Pooja, Dhol drumming, steel band, Roma folk, Sufi, and plenty of irresistible Desi beats, while brightly costumed dancers took to the stage. Now we are looking for a motivated producer to make Mela 2019 our best yet!
As Festival Producer you will programme the Mela in collaboration with the Advisory Group and Glasgow Life Events and Marketing. You will bring creative flair and expertise in South Asian Music and/or Dance forms and be responsible for producing and commissioning performances. The Producer will be responsible for the day to day production and delivery of the Glasgow Mela Festival, evaluation and reporting targets. This includes communications with key partners and funders, including Incredible India, Lahore Twinning Office and City Council. The Producer will be responsible for booking, contracting, and supporting freelance artists and organisations, Line Managed by Senior Projects and Programmes Manager.
• Significant creative programming experience in the British Asian arts scene
• Strong creative knowledge and networks across a range of diverse cultural sectors
• Excellent programme planning, budgeting and delivery skills
• Ability to work in a complex landscape across a range of planning partners
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to reporting and evaluation

The Fee is £1400 per month, payable on submission of a valid invoice at the start of each month, along with a Liability Disclaimer. You will be responsible for all tax and NI payments.

The post is part-time (3 days per week) and for a fixed term period of 5 months/60 days total from March 4th – July 28th 2019. The times of work are flexible and on occasion require weekend/evening working. You will be based with the team in Tramway though will also require working remotely at times.
