Fèis Rois is currently looking to recruit a freelance graduate musician to be part of our traditional youth music tutor team in Aberdeenshire.
Since 2014 Fèis Rois has been working in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council (now Live Life Aberdeenshire) to deliver a music transition project for P7 pupils in the Banff Academy cluster area.
We are currently looking to recruit a freelance graduate musician, who has an interest in working in primary schools, to be part of the tutor team for the next traditional music project in Aberdeenshire.
Duration: 1 day per week x 10 weeks | approx. 3 x 1hour classes per day
Fee: £28 per delivery hour (trainee tutor rate) plus travel
Location: Schools in the Banff Academy cluster area
The project is funded through the Live Life Aberdeenshire Youth Music Initiative (YMI) programme and aims to meet the following Scottish Government YMI outcomes:
• Young people develop their music and music-making skills.
• Young people have more opportunities to take part in enjoyable and quality music making opportunities.
• Young people increase their awareness of music and culture across Scotland, the UK and the world.
Traditional Scottish music is at the heart of the project and, through whole class group music making and singing workshops, the young people will be taken on a journey to explore local, national and worldwide cultures. The classes will be encouraged to learn instruments, explore songs and sound and to be creative. Any pupils already learning an instrument will be encouraged to use these skills as part of the project.
