Having pulled out of a law degree in 2015, alt. Blues/Soul singer/songwriter, Hugh Kelly, has had a busy year. In addition to playing numerous regular gigs, he has released a 4 track EP, completed a 10 date UK tour, performed 45 shows at the Edinburgh Festival including performances for both the BBC and STV.
Hugh Kelly is a Scottish Alt.Blues/Soul singer songwriter. After 2 years studying Law at the University of Aberdeen, he decided to pull out of the course in Sept 2015 to concentrate full-time on his music career.
Over the last 12 months, Hugh wrote and recorded his debut EP, releasing it in Feb 2016. Scottish newspapers, Scotland on Sunday and The Scotsman featured him as their ‘Artist of the Week’ at the end of Feb 2016. He was also featured in March on BBC Radio Scotland’s Janice Forsyth Show. He was highlighted as one of Jim Gellatly’s top picks for April 2016 in The Sun newspaper and featured on Tom Robinson’s ‘Fresh on the Net’ in May 2016.
Hugh completed a 10 date tour in May/June 2016 including 8 venues in Scotland and 2 in Newcastle & London. The tour was directly followed by a number of live radio sessions in late June and July in Scotland and London. Further live performances followed in Edinburgh, Glasgow & the well renowned Bedford in London in July.
Hugh had a full schedule for this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe where he performed 45 solo gigs. Highlights being a televised performance for Scottish Television’s (STV) Edinburgh Festival 2016 show and also 2 live performances for BBC Radio Scotland and BBC at the Edinburgh Festivals.
In addition to a full schedule of gigs in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Newcastle & London between September & December, Hugh will be releasing the first of three winter singles in Oct/Nov.
