Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

Lecturer in Singing (Musical Theatre)
Permanent, Part-time
£34.83 per hour

We are: looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lecturer in Singing to join our Musical Theatre Team.

We are unique: we are the only conservatoire in the UK that offers training in all of the performance disciplines and, as you’d maybe expect, we demand the same high standard from our staff as we do of our students.

You will be: comfortable teaching 1-1 singing technique for musical theatre students, voice qualities and style found in all genres of musical theatre. Able to communicate well with staff and students alike. Piano skills would also be advantageous.

You must have: a degree or equivalent professional experience in an appropriate and relevant subject, together with well-developed teaching and communication skills, and a thorough knowledge of the Musical Theatre repertoire are essential. You will also have a deep knowledge of your specialist subject area, an awareness of the Higher Education sector, contemporary teaching methods, the Curriculum for Excellence, and be enthusiastic in communicating your expertise to students.

We won’t lie to you: our teachers actively balance a high volume of work against a backdrop of continual change both within the institution and the sector. But it’s also a huge opportunity. You have the chance to help shape that change and we would challenge you to find a more inclusive, energised and proud community of students and staff to work with. Not to mention the opportunity to collaborate with our diverse range of professional partners who are in such close proximity to us in this vibrant and exciting city.
