We are currently recruiting for a full-time School Administrator to work in the School Office from Tuesday to Friday and at our long established Saturday Music Classes on a Saturday.

St Mary’s Music School is Scotland’s only independent co-educational, non-denominational specialist music school, offering a world class standard of music and academic education to musically gifted children aged 9-19 years. It is also the Choir School of St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh. It attracts day and boarding pupils from across Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Europe and internationally. Our long established Saturday Music Classes for primary ages allow around 150 children each week to discover the wonders of music in a safe, caring and relaxed social environment.

We are recruiting for a full-time School Administrator to work in the School Office from Tuesday to Friday and at our long established Saturday Music Classes on a Saturday morning and early afternoon.

This is a key role, requiring strong IT skills, a high standard of verbal and written communication and a good level of numeracy. The successful candidate will have a flexible and positive attitude to work with a friendly and approachable demeanour.

Duties will include:
• General school administration;
• Administrative support for Saturday Music Classes;
• Database entry and maintenance;
• Purchase orders, travel arrangements and petty cash requests;
• Invoicing and collection of fees for Saturday Music Classes;
• Arrangement for banking;
• Assisting with event arrangements, including associated administration;
• Confidential typing and filing;
• Administration and typing for senior management staff;
• Deputising for School Office staff.

The post-holder should be able to work independently and as part of a small team. This is an exciting time in the School’s history and the successful candidate will become part of a vibrant and unique institution where no two days are the same.

This is a full-time, permanent post of 35 hours per week, working Tuesday to Saturday. The School offers competitive salary rates and a contributory pension scheme.
