Stewart Kelly
Stewart Kelly is a Postgraduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with over 20 years of performing and teaching experience.
Stewart began learning the guitar in 2000 and joined the Junior school of the RCS for two years where he studied with Alison Smith. During this study period he became a member of the National Youth Guitar Ensemble(NYGE) in which he took part in concerts in Bath International Guitar Festival, World Youth Guitar Festival, Quorn Hall and London’s Bolivar hall. Also during his time at the Junior RCS, Stewart won first prize in the Glasgow Music Festival Guitar Competition which awarded him the International Classical Guitar Trophy, and first prize in the Junior RCS Guitar Competition.
Stewart then went on to join the senior RCS to complete the Bmus(Performance) with honours course followed by a Postgraduate year. During his five years at the RCS Stewart studied with Allan Neave and Philip Thorne MBE and also played in masterclasses by Craig Ogden, Scott Tennant, David Leisner, Benjamin Verdery, Tomasz Zawierucha, Gary Ryan and Pavel Steidl. Stewart also won the Dundee Guitar Festival Prize (Adjudicated by Pavel Steidl).
Stewart has performed in Leeds, Bath, Winchester, Chichester, Quorn, London, Ullapool, Aberdeen, Glasgow Concert Hall, The Houses of Parliament and many other locations throughout the UK.
