The Night With… is an award-winning concert series curated by composer and Artistic Director Matthew Whiteside.

Since its inception in 2016, the series has carved a unique niche in Scotland’s musical landscape, presenting high-quality performances of contemporary classical music in an informal and accessible atmosphere. Based in Glasgow, but with a growing presence across Scotland and the UK, The Night With… is dedicated to supporting emerging and established composers and performers, fostering innovation, and bringing new music to a wider audience.

Each concert is an intimate, relaxed experience designed to break down traditional barriers associated with classical music. By hosting events in unconventional venues such as bars, cafes, and arts spaces, The Night With… creates an engaging environment where audiences can experience cutting-edge compositions and performances up close.

The series has premiered numerous new works by composers from around the world, including commissions supported by Creative Scotland and PRS for Music Foundation. Collaborations have featured renowned ensembles and soloists such as the United Strings of Europe, Hebrides Ensemble, Red Note Ensemble, and Garth Knox, alongside up-and-coming talent.

The Night With… is committed to education and community outreach, offering workshops and opportunities for emerging composers through its popular Call for Scores initiative. This project provides a platform for new voices in contemporary music, with selected works performed live as part of the series and often recorded for release.

In addition to live performances, TNW Music was established to extend the reach of the concert series, capturing and sharing its groundbreaking work with a global audience. The label features recordings of commissioned works, live performances, and studio albums by artists featured in the series. These releases showcase the diversity and creativity of contemporary classical music, offering listeners a chance to engage with music beyond the concert hall.

The Night With… has gained critical acclaim for its bold programming and innovative approach to music-making, earning accolades such as the Scottish Awards for New Music’s “Creative Programming” and ‘Award for the Recording of New Music’ awards. It continues to expand its reach, creating new opportunities for artists and audiences alike while championing the vibrant diversity of contemporary classical music.
