Ada Lovelace, also known as Augusta Ada Byron, was the daughter of a mathematician mother, Isabella and her husband, the poet, Lord Byron.
The marriage did not last.A mathematician herself, she worked alongside Charles Babbage who is considered the ‘father of the modern computer’.
She invented the first algorithm intended to be processed by a machine and as a tribute to her work, the American banking system to this day uses the
software programme ADA.It wasn’t all hard work – she loved wine & gambling, throwing wild parties, and used her mathematical prowess in an attempt to crack the lottery numbers.
She never did!
